reality bites

i'm not even going to try to say that i write regularly, or even consistently but tonight i watched reality bites and it was awesome.

love when catch onto things like... more than 10 years later. anywho.

this effortless look by winona .. love

she also wears this burgundy shirt-dress that would probably be super unflattering on anyone but her elfin-figure but it looks awesome. (can't really tell by this picture.. but trust me, she pulls it off... simple and chic)

also the white dress that ethan hawke bashes, that she wears to her reality-show party, is gorgeous, especially when she steps outside and you can sorta see the outline of her breasts... sounds like a little much, but its just,... well 90s sexy.

also love when she wears this totally 90s men's ish vest as a tank top... the scene where they are high and go shopping for food in the gas station food market.

they also smoke like...1,000 cigarettes in this movie. bt-dubz.
and i can't believe it takes place in houston. htown represent.

what I'm wearing... and drawing.

So I've skipped the pond and moved to London to go to Fashion Accessory School at the London College of Fashion. Our first assignment is re-make, re-model and well here is my train of thought concerning this blog.

1) friend on facebook is doing the whole photo-a-day challenge which is a lot easier with an iphone (to be purchased Monday afternoon, Tuesday at the latest... soooo excited)
2) i need to work on my sketching skills as a designer, fashion illustration, what not.
3) one of the things about fashion blogs i find most interesting (although only if they actually have a sense of style) is when people post what they wear daily.
4) sooooo, i'm going to combine my {need to practice drawing} + {want to actually blog} + {document personal style evolution} = somewhat read-able blog. at least for me... and maybe http://coco-canal.blogspot.com/

So today will just have to be a description.
Bottom Up:
CDG for Repetto black ribboned flats> beige ribbed tights> Acne black quilted pencil skirt w/ exposed zip, Stevan Alan light blue cotton shirt > Kain white tank> usual jewelry.

edit: this morning I also had a vintage hunter green wool vest over this, but may add a denim jacket instead for the evening.

sketching this now, will upload soon.

so it's been awhile....

awhile being like... 2 years. during which a lot can happen.
for instance...I got a job at Christian Louboutin! I will have to post a picture of my shoe collection soon. to make everyone jealous, and myself jealous in a few years after I have sold them all in order to pay for food and cigarettes.

(it's like a shoe-scape... and the incredible thing is, that's not even full pairs, or all of them. look at me with my thousands of dollars of shoes... and then be unable to order edamame at lunch today because it was $5)

i also went from shoulder length hair, to blonde to short short. this may not seem to important to document, but hair is a big deal to me :)

so let's just ignore the previous attempts at blogging and start afresh.
i suppose i could start a new blog, but i just put too much thought into picking a name for this one. dark and fashiony. a new drink name i think too.

i'm OBSESSED WITH THIS:

I did head pieces for awhile, sold at Patricia Fields and Sucre (an amazing boutique on Bleeker)
and it's my DREAM to have the tools and skills to make things like this.
while this is a little tricky to wear day to day, unless it's new years eve or halloween... (i live for holidays where everything goes in terms of getting dressed)
however the masks shown at the isabel toledo exhibit i think are much more wearable to... say, cocktails or a gallery function (unfortunately i don't attend much of either... more like shake shack in madison square park, but anyways) these masks are much more subtle, and much more DIY

So yesterday I bought a laptop. I generously gave my giant screened imac to my mom, and she assisted in the purchase of the 13inch beauty i type on now. it's dainty. it travels and fits in my bag. its almost better than a puppy. i hope to carry it around often. But since briefcases and backpacks are unbecoming on me, I will be carrying it in a Marni tote. Which looks great, but is not the safest of containers for this machinery.

I have off today. what to do.. what to do.
here is my plan

1) get coffee, smoke cig.
2) go home.
3) watch gilmore girls (teehee)
4) drop off amazing pair of stella mccartney's at INA
5) do not buy anything.
6) do some sit ups
8) eat something
7) HMMMMMM

post-act

I almost never wear that plaid shirt. The neck line is too close to my actual neck for comfort, and I always feel like a cowboy when i wear the shirt. The ring is huge. And while it looks cool, it's a pain in the ass to wear, as it is always flipping down or threatening to slip off. So while it was a cheap purchase it was not necessarily a good one.

Recently I have procured a J.Crew wool school-boy coat. it almost sorta looks Balenciaga Fall 2007. Almost, but still smart looking. haha.

I also bought a blue rachel bilson/kirsten dunst hat. if you hold the had upside down, it looks like a bowl. and it acts like an opaque hair net. my mom thinks it makes me look homeless. Or like I shop at Salvation Army. Which I do, but this hat is Simply Vera by Vera Wang. I also bought a violet silk tunic with a hood from Kohl's from the Vera line, but I'm less and less excited about it. And it still cost as much as a See by Chloe top on sale. That plaid shirt, I may never wear it, but it serves as a good marker.
